Time is money”. It is famous on our ear. Especially, when we come to modern country, such as Japan, The USA, The United Kingdom, France, and other countries. The people in modern country never waste their time in every subject. It also occurs on their education system. They never want to learn something useless but they focus on their special skill.
Let us compare with Indonesian system of education. In Indonesia Senior High School student (SMA student) will spent their time, almost 3 years, learn something useless on their life. If you are people in Indonesia, you will know that when you study in SMA you will learn many subjects. But, when you work on your company, I think not all thing that you have learned will be used on your specification. For example, if you are Science Physics student you will learn Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Bahasa Indonesia, English, etc. Unfortunately, when you grow up and become a doctor your knowledge in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, will not be used.
Indonesian Government always says that it is the most effective way to provide students who ready to work on their specification. But, in the other hand, we can see how confuse the SMA students prepare their self to study too many subjects. Students in Indonesia seem like don’t have any focus to what they learn. Worse, when SMA students who study in Science Physics Program will continue their study on Social subject such as economic or accounting, it means they will waste 3 years to learn difficult useless subjects (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology).
In this article, the writer brings an opinion to resolve this problem. The writer as SMA Student in Indonesia have felt how difficult to focus in study if we use the old system. It will be better, the SMP (junior high school) students are introduced many subjects on 3 years. And then, when they come to Senior high school, they are ready to choose one subject to learn. Of course the important subject such as Religion, Nationality, Bahasa Indonesia, English, Based Mathematics, art, and sport, still taught to the students in every subject. So after they pass from SMA students, they can continue their study to the right way.
